Independent candidates committed to transparent, responsible and responsive government
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – After extensive consideration of the input submitted by both candidates for mayor and all five candidates for commissioner, as well as the public record of all candidates, Downers Grove for Responsible Government (DG4RG) is today pleased to announce its endorsements for Downers Grove Village Council:
Martin T. Tully
William “Bill” White
DG4RG selected individuals for endorsement based on their commitment to transparent, responsible and responsive government. This includes high ethical standards, independent thinking, a focus on sound fiscal management, and above all unceasing advocacy for residents and taxpayers.
“DG4RG is proud to endorse Martin Tully, William Waldack, Gina Vattimo, and William “Bill” White,” stated DG4RG Co-Chairman Tim Harms. “We believe these candidates will listen to residents and represent the entire Downers Grove community. They are independent, ethical and are committed to good government at the local level. It is essential that government leaders earn the trust and respect of the people they represent, and we believe these candidates will do that every day.”
Tim Werner, DG4RG Co-Chairman noted, “On April 7th, Downers Grove residents can express their opinion on the proposed new Village Hall, Police Station, and Fire Station by voting on the advisory referendum. But more importantly, residents will also vote for three Council members and Mayor – whose decisions on the Facilities Plan and other important community issues are binding. We are confident Martin Tully, William Waldack, Gina Vattimo, and William “Bill” White will provide the resident-focused leadership which will respect the will of the people regarding the proposed municipal complex.”
In making endorsements, DG4RG distributed and received completed questionnaires from both candidates for Mayor and all five candidates for Commissioner. DG4RG also reviewed public records, including candidate voting records and public statements.
The Downers Grove for Responsible Government (DG4RG) coalition was formed by residents who believe in transparent, responsible and responsive government which reflects the will of the people it represents. In 2014, DG4RG brought together over 50 volunteers and gathered the support of more than 3,000 residents to place an advisory referendum on the ballot – giving residents a voice regarding the proposed new Village Hall and Police Station.
